Ionia Idol is an annual vocal music competition held during the Ionia Free Fair in Ionia, Michigan. Contestants battle it out in front of 3 judges for the chance to win $1,500! Contestants are judged on 4 categories: talent, stage presence, vocal range, and overall impression. The top 3 are awarded cash prizes of $1,500, $750, and $250.

Ionia Idol got its start in 2004 as the Ionia Free Fair’s first vocal music competition. Contestants come from all over the State to compete on our stage.

The event takes place over the course of 4 days beginning with 3 days of semi-finals, followed by the finals on the last day. Individuals who are approved to compete in the semi-finals will perform one time during the first 3 days of competition. Those who win the semi-finals go on to the finals on the 4th day.

To enter this competition, singers must submit an application and registration fee by the established deadline annually. Rules and information on how to apply can be found below. There is no age limit, but you must be a Michigan resident.

Fairgoers are able to attend for FREE to cheer on their favorite contestants.

Deadline to Apply for Ionia Idol 2020 to be determined.
